New York University College of Dentistry (NYU Dentistry) offers Advanced Standing into the D.D.S. program for the internationally trained dentist who seeks to practice dentistry in the United States. Students admitted with advanced placement enter a 27 months, full-time program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA). With its culmination in the D.D.S. degree, the graduating dentist has met the educational requirement for licensure.

Requirements to apply to program

English Language Proficiency

  • Must be proficient in the English language.
  • It is mandatory that all applicants must take the TOEFL to be considered for admission.
  • Accept Internet-based TOEFL (iBT) and Paper-Based (PBT) test.
  • Minimum score required on iBT is 100 and for PBT is 603. No exceptions will be made. 
  • Must submit official TOEFL score report directly from ETS to NYU Dentistry upon admission to the program.
  • Candidate’s copies are not accepted.
  • TOEFL test is valid only for two years, and must not expire before the application deadline.

National Board Dental Examination Requirements

  • Program requires passage of NBDE Part I & II to be considered for admission.
  • Must submit official NDBE I & II score report directly from the ADA to NYU Dentistry upon admission to the program.
  • Candidate’s copies are not accepted.

Advanced Dental Admission Test (ADAT)

  • Completion of the ADAT will not be considered during application review for admission to the program.

Letter of Evaluation

  • Program requires three Letters of Evaluation.
  • Program requires one Letter of Evaluation to come from Dean of dental school from which the applicant graduated.
  • All letters of recommendation must be sent directly to ADEA CAAPID.

Transcripts and Evaluations

  • Applicant must submit official ECE course by course evaluation to ADEA CAAPID.  We do not accept evaluations from WES or any other credential evaluators. 

Application Fees

  • A non-refundable processing fee of $100.00 (USD) is required to complete the application to NYU College of Dentistry. This payment can be made online at the NYU Dental Application Fee Payment page.

Other Documents That Should Be Sent Directly to Program (not to ADEA CAAPID)

  • Additional documents such as Dental Transcripts, Dental Diplomas, and MS Transcripts must be sent directly to NYU Dentistry upon request of the Office of Admissions.
