ADEA Regional Faculty Development Workshops: Bringing IPE Home - Rosemont, IL April 24-25, 2014

“Bringing IPE Home”

This workshop was part of the ADEA Regional Faculty Development Workshop series.

Whether your institution is already engaged in interprofessional exercises or looking for that first step to bring interprofessional education (IPE) to your institution, fully understanding IPE in the context of national changes to health care delivery models is essential to your institution’s success.

IPE is the pedagogical approach used to educate health professionals and their students to better understand the roles, responsibilities and professional tenets of their own—and other—health professions in an effort to remove barriers to effective team work and, ultimately, to result in more effective and improved health outcomes.

Health care delivery models are being transformed at a rapid pace to align with collaborative care. This rapid transformation makes it critical that our dental school faculty become IPE educated and ensure that their students are well prepared for success after they graduate.

Who Should Attend?

Individuals from your institution who oversee or who are involved with clinical education, curriculum development, intramural programming or the accreditation process (e.g., chair of the self-study process).

What are the Goals?

  1. To learn why IPE is critical for preparing our students for future practice.
  2. To equip faculty with the skills necessary to provide IPE programming for their students.
  3. To meet the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA), Accreditation Standards for Pre-doctoral Dental Education revised Standard 2-19 regarding IPE and practice.

What are the Benefits of Attendance?

Expert Advice. Hear from those in the health professions who are actively involved in IPE.
