2017 ADEA/AAL Compass Program for Academic Advancement
Dates: Aug 31-Sep 28, 2017
Location: Course Orientation and Four Weekly Sessions, Online
Registration deadline: August 30, 2017
The Compass Program for Academic Advancement is an online course that presents a variety of non-teaching skills and strategies to faculty: conducting research, writing grant applications, publishing articles and reports and career planning.
The Compass Program for Academic Advancement provides early and mid-career faculty with an understanding of the culture of higher education. You will learn a variety of skills needed for career advancement in many institutions-conducting educational research, writing grant applications, publishing articles and reports and career planning-with the convenience and affordability of distance learning.
Four weekly sessions are presented live and are recorded, with assignments to enable you to apply the lessons to your own projects and exchange feedback with other participants.
Each module consists of a series of readings; a live, online session of 90 minutes that is recorded and saved on AAL's learning management system for downloading; and a follow-up exercise where you will post your assignment on a discussion board and receive feedback from a Compass instructor and fellow participants.
Individual session dates and times:
- August 31, 2017, from 8:00 – 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time (Course Orientation)
- September 7, 2017, from 8:00 – 9:30 p.m. Eastern Time (Course Module)
